Statement of Intent

Ensure our children are equipped with the skills and motivation neccesary to contribute to the community, show understanding of global challenges and flourish in a complex world. 

 

Critical success factors 

CSF 1  We need to clearly communicate our strategic approach to personal development, emotional wellbeing and wider opportunities that champion all  pupils to our families
CSF 2  We need an ambitious curriculum that provides challenge consistently across subject areas for all children
CSF 3  We need pupils to be able to clearly and confidently express themselves 
CSF 4  We need a site that can continue to support our ambitious expectations for all                                                                                           

CSF 5  We need leadership that can manage and maximise school resources for all
CSF 6  We need enabling and inclusive environments for all pupils 
CSF 7  We need skilled Learning Coaches and Expert Teachers trained and equipped with the necessary skills, tools and understanding 
CSF 8  We need aligned strategic systems, planning mechanisms and assessment points for pastoral care

Whole Scool Projects 2023-2024

Below are the main projects we undertook last year and how they are impacting the children at Mill View

  • Completed Phase 1 of our whole school Oracy project - teachers upskilled to teach oracy moreeffectively
  • All teaching staff trained in Learning Without Limits principles linked to backwards planning and child engaged assessment - learning process improved and pupils engaged in expeditionary learning projects
  • All subject leaders trained in the Book Study approach to monitoring - strong evidence based monitoring programme in place
  • New formative assessment and target tracking system in place - improved data and analysis
  • Senior leaders, teachers and learning coaches trained in Phase 1 MITA principle (Maximising the Impact of Teaching Asistants) - improved outcomes for all groups of learners
  • Learning Coach model introduced for support staff - more bespoke and specialised support available to children with range of needs
  • Whole school Personal Development strategy published - school approach to Personal Development for all children is clearer
  • Healthy Hearts and Minds Trail planned in consultaion with all children and implemented - wider range of play opportunities available to children during lunchtime play which makes better use of our site for all
  • Developing inclusivity of classroom environements for children with SEND - increased scaffolding and engagement evident 
  • Leadership and School Business Manager structure and systems in place - consistent and stable administrative stability
  • Full review, evaulation and update of EYFS curriculum and assessment - clear curriculum and assessment protocols in place to ensure smooth progress and transition for our youngest learners

Whole School Projects 2024-2025

  • We will continue into Phase 2 of our whole school Oracy project in order to improve the oracy skills of all pupils from starting points 
  • We will train all staff in Learning Without Limits principles relating to metacognition, cognitive load and setting clear and precise learning objectives to improve learning process and pupil engagement 
  • We will plan, introduce, train staff and fully implement a new Science curriculum across school in order to raise the engagement level of pupils
  • We will train all staff in the principles of 'crew culture' in order to increase children's connection with staff and peers
  • We will train senior leaders, teachers and learning coaches in the second phase of MITA principles to improve outcomes for all groups of learners
  • We will introduce and embed dual coding across school to make learning more accessible to all leaners
  • We will develop new mechanisms to identify and extend the support offered to children who experience academic disadvantage 
  • We will raise parental understanding of our personal development strategy and how this can be extended to home in order to raise children's emotional wellbeing, mental health and physical wellbeing 
  • We will create and implement updated systems for Learning Mentor support to ensure support is tightly linked to need and measurable
  • We will fully implement the Little Wrens Milestones to track children throughout Foundation Stage ensuring pupil attainment is clear and progress is measurable for all stakeholders, SEND pupils are are quickly identified and supported and that staff are confident in making their judgements
  • We will extend readily available hardware to ensure that IT can be further embedded across the curriculum for all children
  • We will develop a strategic overview for our broader curriculum opportunities that is outward facing in oredr to secure long term protocols 
  • We will review and update our RE curriculum in line with the new CWAC agreed syllabus ready for implemention in September 2025
  • We will ensure that our new leadership structure is fully equipped to manage whole school resources and budget to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
  • We will explore ways to future proof the school building with an emphasis on having a more positive impact on the environment to ensure we can continue to provide the very best learning opportunities
